It's based on 6 levels called A1 and A2 (elementary); B1 and B2 (intermediate) and CA and C2 Common European Framework of Reference for Languages : french level A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2 France Langue schools are open*! We will be running a blended programme, combining face to face classes in our physical schools and in our virtual school: FL OnLine School. In CEFR terms, level B is split into two - B1 and B2 - with B1 being an independent user at the threshold, and B2 being an advanced independent user. A candidate receiving a B1 language level score can already access certain jobs requiring language skills. For example those in the hospitality sector like hotels or restaurants/bars. English level B1 is the third level of English in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), a definition of different language levels written by the Council of Europe. In everyday speech, this level would be called “intermediate”, and indeed, that is the official level descriptor in the CEFR.

The six levels within the CEFR are A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. With these levels, you can easily work out your ability in around 40 different languages. The levels are often used casually by language learners to explain their ability at speaking, reading, writing and understanding a language. Some language tests do not fully correspond to CEFR. For instance, if you’re taking the Polish language test you find out that you have only three options: B1, B2 or C2. Other three language levels do exist in Egzaminy Certyfikatowe z Języka Polskiego jako Obcego but they do not correspond to CEFR standards of A1, A2, and C1. As a result, you most surely can take these exams but your certificate will be out of the common point of reference.
